About the property

Is this the best location for a holiday rental in York? Situated in the secured gated development "The Purey Cust" next to York Minster. A totally unique architect designed 2 bed (sleeps 6 with use of the sofa bed) property that combines history with contemporary features.

On the ground floor level – shower room, open plan living room, dining area, snug/office workspace and uber contemporary fully fitted kitchen with granite worksurfaces and integrated appliances. The living room has full glazing allowing light to flood into this space.

Travel back in time down the historic stone staircase and archway from 1616 into the 2 modern bedrooms underground (one double and one twin) and the main bathroom. There is also a sofa bed in the main living room which will enable the property to sleep 6 in total.

Outside there is parking for one car (a major benefit for a York city centre property) and an area where you can sit and enjoy a drink in the evening or why not enjoy your cuppa in the morning before heading out to enjoy all that wonderful York has to offer.

As you would expect from such a high class property wifi, bedding, linen and towels are all included together with complimentary toiletries, coffee maker and coffee pods.

We provide a meet and greet service to ensure that you have all the information you need about the property and the area and you have personal contact throughout your stay should you need it.

Check in is after 3pm and check out is by 10am. No smoking (The property and The Purey Cust Development are non smoking), hen or stag parties or pets.

The Minster Garden House is a stunning and quirky property which is located next to the Minster - the location is unbeatable. It’s situated within a gated courtyard with a parking space - incredibly convenient. The house is spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels luxurious. The kitchen is also very well equipped. Would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved it. You could not wish for a more perfect location with private parking. The property is stunning. Very tastefully furnished and well equipped. We wanted for nothing. The beds are so comfy. Bathrooms are spacious. The small area outside was perfect to finish the day off in the sunshine with a glass of wine. We will definitely be back.

This place ticks the box at every level. Firstly it is in a private development right next to the Minster - very safe and secure and less than a stones throw from York Minster - fab location. The photos do not do the Garden House justice. It is very tastefully and stylishly decorated with a spacious living area, very well equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, great showers and 2 bedrooms with very comfy beds. The arch to the downstairs (bedroom area) is 500 ish years old so steeped in history - this place is unique and perfectly in tune with such a beautiful historic city. Carol and Rachel were very efficient, great communication and quick to respond and help. So impressed with Minster Garden House - we will be back

Three adults and three children were able to fit comfortably in this beautifully unique property. It is clean and spacious. We loved walking down the stone stairs to our bedrooms. It is one of the best places I have ever slept in, and now that I am back home, I long for the comforts of that room. The children loved playing in Dean’s Park, which is right outside the secure gate. We also loved that when we walked outside the gate, we were standing at the entrance of the majestic York Minster. Since the ticket to the Minster is valid for a year, we used it a few times on our stay. Everything we wanted to experience in York was extremely close to this property. The Shambles, the outdoor markets, a grocery store that stayed open late, the best restaurants, Jorvik, and Cliffords Tower. We easily walked everywhere. Another great perk is the free parking right outside the door. On the last two days of the trip, we rented a car from Enterprise (located at the train station). We used it to drive to Whitby. We were able to check out the Abbey (for any Bram Stoker fans). On another day, we were fortunate enough to see Castle Howard, which was wonderful for not only the adults, but for the children as well. Skelf Island at Castle Howard is a must if you have adventurous children. Communication with both Carol and Laura was absolutely perfect. They provided great details on how to get to the property and even gave us a pdf guide to York. They are friendly and efficient, and my entire family thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
