The Shambles York
The Shambles in York is a must see old street with amazing timber-framed buildings. They overhang so look up and you can see how close they are to the building opposite. It is generally accepted to be the best preserved European example of a Medieval street.
Originally it was used mainly for butchers shops and it is thought that even in 1872 there were around 25 butchers shops along the street - there are none now. They have been replaced with interesting small restaurants and independent shops.
So grab your camera and head off to York Shambles it really is a must see!
