York Tourist Information
Founded in 71AD York is now a vibrant mix of history and contemporary culture. The beauty for tourists on a York break is that you can easily walk around the city and enjoy all the main York attractions such as York Minster, National Railway Museum, Yorvik Viking Centre, Bettys Cafe and numerous shops and restaurants. York has plenty for children too, The York Dungeons is a highlight. The list of places to visit in York is long. A must see is The Shambles which is one of the most visited streets in the UK. The buildings date back to the 15th Century and this makes it the oldest street in York and we believe it to be the best preserved street in Europe from Medieval times. Today it houses independent shops and restaurants and many ghost walks start from here.
The best way to find out about York is to come and visit. We are sure you will want to return as we have many repeat guests who visit each year whether on a short Xmas shopping trip, a Valentines or Birthday trip or a longer summer holiday to relax and enjoy York and its surroundings.
